alexander mcqueen f/w 2010, mcqueen’s final unfinished collection:
the collection strongly referenced byzantine art, especially the religious architecture that was so characteristic of the time. above, the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia x detail on a dress from the collection - it is easy to see why mcqueen would have referenced this highly important mausoleum in ravenna, as a UNESCO expert said of it, “it is the earliest and best preserved of all mosaic monuments, and at the same time one of the most artistically perfect”.
